Reiki is a very simple, non-intrusive and extremely powerful healing process from life-force energy. A treatment session lasts 45 mins. It is usual for the recipient to lie down, fully clothed on a couch, although it can be done sitting in a chair where lying down causes difficulty. The therapist gently places their hands in various positions over the whole of the body, when each position is held for several minutes. There is no pressure, making Reiki ideal for treating the very young and the elderly, pregnant women and those recovering from surgery. The whole body is treated, not just an isolated area. This enables the energy to go right to the source of the imbalance, not just to the manifesting symptoms.
